Spring Term

History Off the Page – Toy Day

The children in Year 1 were entertained and educated in the world of Toys by the Visiting company, History Off The Page. The children experienced a fantastic hands on education in Toys, both past and present.

A Local Walk

As part of their topic of “Homes and Toys”, Year 1 took a walk around the local neighbourhood looking at houses and facilities so they can compare them to life in the past.

The Tiger who came to Tea

The children in Year 1 had a really big surprise. They had an unexpected visitor in their literacy lesson, the Tiger who came for tea. The tiger investigated their classroom, especially the fridge before having a drink and leaving. What an exciting time in Year 1.

Autumn Term

Year 1 Trip to Whipsnade Zoo

In Year 1 this term they have been looking at the topic ‘Where the Wild Things Live.’ The children had an exciting trip to Whipsnade Zoo to explore classification. The children compared a wide range of animals from tigers to penguins and used amazing descriptive language to sort them into groups.

A Visit from Watford Schools Trust

Year 1 were lucky to receive a visit from Watford Schools Trust. They had a wonderful time learning about Harvest and Harvest Festivals.

Exploring Numbers to 10 with 10 Frames

A fun investigation into number patterns and number bonds using fantastic maths apparatus.
